Little Turquoise Swarovski Crystals…the gateway crystal….

Yes, that’s right…some new Swarovski crystals just landed in my collection and I am giddy about it.  I know, it’s a little ridiculous but I can’t WAIT to sit down and start working with these little 4mm gems.

Where did they come from you ask? Weeeelll, it may just be that the Kansas City Gem and Bead show rolled through town this weekend.  We stumbled on it by accident, too!  It was a really serendipitous find for our Saturday morning.  We were out for coffee and errands and happened to swing by a favorite local bead store to look at their goodies when we overheard the woman behind the counter telling another customer about the huge expo happening just down the road.

Typically, I wait until the big show in November to stock up and have also been practicing a little bit of conscious consumerism–trying to use all of the stranded and left over beads before going out and buying a slew of new ones.

But, in this particular instance, I couldn’t resist. I’ve been wanting to explore some different bead weaving and stitches with crystals and I seized my accidental opportunity!

Stay tuned for some new pieces being added to the gallery and portfolio pages as I dig into my findings from the show.
